River Blades Figure Skaters to perform in downtown St. Paul

River Blades Figure Skaters have been invited to perform by the city of St. Paul in downtown Rice Park at the Wells Fargo Winter Skate Grand Opening 11/17.  

Team River Blades will perform a tribute to the 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton recently Team River Blades raised over $15,000 for the Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer & raised money for the University of MN Children's Masonic Hospital.  

Two of River Blades youngest figure skaters Ella King & Mia Qualantone will perform a duet for the grand opening and kick off to the holidays in downtown St. Paul

The rink is located adjacent to Rice Park, the St. Paul hotel and Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul

Who

Everyone and anyone—all ages are welcome. This is a great event to invite your neighbors, friends and family to attend.

What

The Grand Opening of Wells Fargo WinterSkate and Rice Park powered by Xcel Energy which is the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season in Minnesota’s capital city. Attendees of this free event will have the opportunity to be the first to skate on the outdoor rink on downtown Saint Paul’s Landmark Plaza while getting a view of the lighting of the Hamm Plaza Christmas Tree—due to Rice Park renovations, the tree is being relocated for the season (though the exterior of Rice Park will still be lit). The event will also feature music, photo opportunities, fireworks and more.

3:30 - 7 pm - Hot Cocoa compliments of Xcel Energy at the Energy Resources Trailer
4:30 - 6 pm - KS95 music at the rink
4:30 - 6 pm - Photos with Jack the Dog from Wells Fargo 
4:30 - 7 pm - Photos with the Wells Fargo Stagecoach
5:30 - 6 pm - River Blades Skaters will perform
6 pm - Saint Paul Police Band Drumline arrives
6 - 6:45 pm - Rice Park Grand Opening Ceremony

  • Emcees Paul Folger and Jackie Cain from 5 Eyewitness News and Staci Matthews from KS95 Afternoon Show with Moon and Staci

  • Saint Paul Hotel’s “It’s a Wonderful Life – Live Radio Play” performers singing “The Christmas Song”

  • Make A Wish check presentation

6:45 pm - Hamm Plaza Christmas Tree lighting and Fireworks show
7 pm - Wells Fargo WinterSkate Rink opens for skating

No skates? No problem. You can rent skates for $4 or get them for free by showing your Wells Fargo debit or credit card (one pair per card).
